Hyderabad Metro–Telangana RTC common pass to launch on October 2
A unified travel pass enabling passengers to use both Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) services is scheduled to be launched on Friday, October 2, 2026. The initiative aims to provide seamless travel across the city’s two major public transport systems under a single ticketing solution.
What the joint pass includes
According to officials involved in the rollout, the integrated pass will be available in daily and monthly variants and will be valid for travel on Hyderabad Metro Rail as well as TGSRTC buses operating within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. The Pushpak airport service to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad will be excluded from the scheme.
Cards for the common pass will be sold at Metro stations. A security amount will be collected at the time of first purchase and will be refundable upon return of the card, officials indicated.
Digital ticketing push and weekly e-passes
In a parallel move to broaden digital access, TGSRTC is preparing to introduce an online ticket purchase facility, offering commuters an alternative to conventional paper tickets. This will complement the existing option of paying by scanning QR codes displayed on ticket-issuing machines.
As part of the same effort to streamline and modernize fare options, the corporation will also roll out digital weekly passes, providing another flexible option for frequent riders.
Administrative impetus and coordination
The launch follows directions issued nearly a month ago by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju to expedite a joint travel pass spanning Metro and bus services. Following these instructions, departments were tasked with making the necessary arrangements to ensure inter-operability and ease of use across both modes.
The State government is introducing the pass in collaboration with Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) and TGSRTC. The formal launch event will take place at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka attending as the chief guest.
What to expect at rollout
With the integrated pass in place, commuters will be able to plan trips that combine Metro and city buses more efficiently, accessing a wider network through a single medium of payment. Distribution will begin at Metro stations, and further operational details—such as specific pricing for the daily and monthly variants and the refundable security amount—are expected to be announced at or after the launch event.
The introduction of the common pass, alongside expanded digital options, is intended to standardize and simplify the ticketing experience, reducing reliance on paper tickets and enabling faster, more convenient validation across the urban transit network.
Launch date: Friday, October 2, 2026. Venue: Praja Bhavan, Hyderabad. Partners: Government of Telangana, HMRL and TGSRTC.
