IIMB alumni community raises ₹20.11 lakh for injured student
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore Alumni Association (IIMBAA) has mobilised support across batches to raise ₹20.11 lakh for a current IIM Bangalore student who was seriously injured in a road accident, surpassing an initial fundraising target within days of an appeal.
Appeal and swift response
An appeal for financial assistance was shared with the alumni network on the morning of September 25, 2026, with a goal of ₹18 lakh. In response, 267 alumni contributed a total of ₹20.11 lakh, exceeding the target, IIMBAA said in a statement.
Community solidarity
The association noted that the overwhelming response brought together alumni across generations, underscoring the strength and solidarity of the IIM Bangalore community during a time of need. “I am proud to see IIMBAA becoming a real community, one where people come together to help each other when it matters. Because ultimately, that is what a community that cares does,” said Harish Mittal, president, IIMBAA.
Student’s condition
According to the statement, the injured student remains in a serious condition and is admitted to Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road.

IIMBAA did not disclose further details about the student but indicated that the funds raised will support immediate medical needs. The association thanked contributors for their prompt and generous response and said it would continue to monitor the situation and extend assistance as required.
