KEA examinations: DC directs officials to ensure free and fair conduct

Yadgir: Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has directed district officials to strictly implement Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) guidelines to ensure the transparent and smooth conduct of direct recruitment examinations scheduled from October 24 to 27 across the district.

Chairing a preparatory meeting at the Yadgir Zilla Panchayat hall, Pandve instructed invigilators, chief superintendents and custodians to maintain complete secrecy and punctuality in handling examination materials. He also mandated well-organised seating arrangements at every centre and said all CCTV cameras must remain fully functional throughout the examination period.

Examination schedule and centres

According to the district administration, the four-day schedule will see thousands of candidates appear across multiple centres:

October 24: Land Surveyor examination from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with 2,561 candidates set to appear across six centres.

October 25: Village Administrative Officer examination in two sessions—from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.—with 9,626 candidates across 25 centres.

October 26: Nursing and Pharmacy Officers examination for 1,218 candidates across three centres.

October 27: Examination for Residential School Teachers and Second Division Assistants, with 535 candidates at a single centre.

Security and prohibitory measures

To safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process, prohibitory orders will be in force within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres during the examination hours. Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said adequate security forces would be deployed around the venues to prevent any untoward incidents and to ensure smooth access and crowd management.

Verification, technology and hall protocols

Deputy Director of Pre-University Education Sudeep said candidate verification would be carried out through QR code scanning at the entry points of examination centres. To curb the use of unfair means, signal jammers are being installed at the venues.

The administration has also reiterated strict hall protocols. Electronic gadgets of any kind are prohibited. Candidates will not be allowed to carry food items or water bottles into the examination halls, and shoes are banned inside the halls. Officials have been told to enforce these rules uniformly to maintain a level playing field for all candidates.

Administration’s focus on integrity and efficiency

The district administration emphasised that adherence to KEA norms, robust surveillance and meticulous centre management are central to ensuring free and fair examinations. With detailed arrangements for seating, surveillance, verification and security, authorities said they are working to minimise disruptions and uphold the credibility of the recruitment process.

The examinations will be conducted across designated centres in Yadgir district from October 24 to 27.
