Indian, German firms to collaborate on immunoglobulin products: Indian Embassy

An Indian and a German biopharmaceutical company will collaborate on the manufacturing and commercialisation of immunoglobulin products, including a key therapy used in organ transplantation, with technology transfer to India, the Embassy of India in Berlin has announced.

According to the mission, the arrangement is being advanced through a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) exchanged between Germany’s Neovii Biotech GmbH and India’s VINS Bioproducts Ltd. The exchange took place on the sidelines of the Indo-German Health Leadership Dialogue on October 13 in Berlin.

Collaboration outlined at health dialogue

The embassy said the proposed collaboration will cover a range of immunoglobulin products, with a specific reference to anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG), a therapy used in human organ transplantation and in the treatment of certain blood disorders.

“@eoiberlin facilitated the exchange of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) between Neovii Biotech GmbH, Germany and VINS Bioproducts Ltd, India, on the sidelines of the Indo-German Health Leadership Dialogue organised by the Embassy of India, Berlin, on 13 Oct 2026,” the mission said in a post on X on Thursday (October 16, 2026).

It added: “The NDA will facilitate collaboration in manufacturing, technology transfer to India and commercialisation of immunoglobulin products, including anti-thymocyte globulin necessary for human organ transplantation and other blood disorders.”

Technology transfer and local manufacturing

The Embassy of India in Berlin underscored that technology transfer to India is a core element of the agreement, alongside plans for domestic manufacturing and market development. While specific operational details were not disclosed, the stated intent is to enable production in India and broaden access to specialised biologics that are essential for transplant medicine and haematological care.

Potential impact on access and self-reliance

The mission noted that the proposed collaboration could strengthen India’s domestic capabilities in specialised biological products used in organ transplantation and for certain blood disorders. If realised, technology transfer and local manufacturing could improve access to these therapies and reduce reliance on imports.

Next steps

The exchange of the NDA marks an initial step in the partnership process between Neovii Biotech GmbH and VINS Bioproducts Ltd. The embassy’s statement did not provide a timeline for subsequent agreements or commercial launch, but indicated that the framework is intended to move toward production and commercialisation following the transfer of technology.

Significance

The announcement reflects ongoing Indo-German cooperation in the health sector and highlights a targeted effort to expand India’s capacity in complex biologics. By focusing on immunoglobulin therapies such as anti-thymocyte globulin, the collaboration aims to address critical clinical needs in transplantation medicine and the management of certain blood disorders, with the longer-term goal of enhancing availability and affordability through domestic production.
