Bharat Rashtra Samithi senior leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao alleged in Hyderabad that the Telangana government deceived 75 unemployed youth by collecting ₹4.5 lakh each through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Ltd (TOMCOM) for promised jobs in Germany about two years ago, with none of them even called for an interview, The Hindu reported.

Rao said in a Sunday statement that the youths were drawn from 15 districts and that many families had borrowed by mortgaging gold jewellery of mothers and wives. He demanded an inquiry into the matter.

He further alleged that a third-party agency is now insisting the candidates clear the B2 language exam after initially saying the B1 level would suffice, and that those objecting were told to approach a court in Lucknow, roughly 1,000 km from Telangana.

Rao also said information on how many candidates have been employed through TOMCOM has not been provided despite an RTI request. He added that while the 75 selected candidates have not received jobs, TOMCOM started another batch in June promising overseas placements.
