Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will launch a slate of drinking water projects worth ₹30,156 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission in the Proddatur constituency of Kadapa district on Monday, October 5, 2026. He will be joined by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav at the public event.
Major push under Jal Jeevan Mission
The programmes to be rolled out in Proddatur are part of a wider drive to expand safe drinking water access across rural areas. According to officials, plans include 27.36 lakh new tap connections, with the overall initiative targeted at providing clean drinking water to 3.27 crore rural households.
On-ground preparations and crowd management
District in-charge Minister S. Savitha reviewed the arrangements at the public meeting venue on Sunday, October 4, alongside TDP district president C. Bhupesh Subbarami Reddy, BJP district president Subba Reddy and Jana Sena leader V. Ramana. The administration has drawn up plans to manage traffic on all approach roads to Proddatur, anticipating heavy movement ahead of the programme.
Officials said the National Democratic Alliance government has made arrangements to mobilise nearly one lakh people for the event. The district administration has also planned amenities at the venue, including drinking water, food, shelter, makeshift toilets, and health and sanitation services, to accommodate the expected crowds.
Government focus on development initiatives
Speaking to the media during the inspection, Ms. Savitha said the government had allocated substantial funds for a range of initiatives beyond the water projects. These include start-up Kadapa, Invest Kadapa, smart kitchens, and the extension of the Kadapa airport terminal. She also described the proposed Rayalaseema horticultural hub as a “game changer” for the region.
What to expect on October 5
The launch ceremony in Proddatur will formally kick off the water schemes earmarked under the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district, with senior leaders from the State government and allied parties set to attend. With logistics and public amenities in place and traffic control plans activated, the district administration is preparing for a large turnout as the government moves to expand rural tap-water coverage.
The initiatives mark a significant investment in essential infrastructure, with officials underscoring that the rollout is aimed at improving public health and quality of life by enhancing access to safe drinking water in rural areas.
