NEW DELHI: In a bold statement amid the controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, conducted a passionate press conference on Thursday, intensifying his criticism of the Centre and the electoral process in India.
In a pointed remark, Rahul showcased an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi chanting “abki baar, 400 paar” during the campaign for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He asserted that despite facing anti-incumbency sentiments, PM Modi’s confidence indicated that “anti-incumbency does not affect PM Modi.”

The former Congress president made a sweeping claim, alleging that “all elections are being rigged.”
“Gyanesh Kumar was appointed by PM and Amit Shah, and now two Chief Election Commissioners claim he’s responsible for the chaos and damage to our voting system,” Rahul said.
He further criticized the PM-led government, stating, “the truth is that the PM and the Home Minister have attacked and dismantled the democratic framework of this country.”
This latest critique comes as the controversy around SIR continues, after an Indian Express report suggested there were disagreements between the Chief Election Commissioner and the other two election commissioners over the exercise.
The Election Commission has dismissed these allegations, asserting that their decisions on SIR were unanimous and that internal discussions included various written notes and differing opinions.
