CCB books 19 persons for riding wheelie, triple riding and drinking in public places

The Central Crime Branch’s (CCB) Organised Crime Wing (East Division) and Narcotics Control Squad have booked 19 people for allegedly performing wheelies at midnight, triple riding on two-wheelers, operating vehicles without number plates and creating public nuisance by consuming alcohol in public places during night patrols across the city.

Enforcement drive to curb public nuisance

According to the CCB, its teams have been carrying out regular night patrols across multiple locations with the stated aim of preventing activities that disturb public order and cause inconvenience to residents. The joint operation by the Organised Crime Wing (East Division) and the Narcotics Control Squad is part of a continuing effort to deter reckless riding and public drinking, both cited by the agency as sources of disturbance and potential risk to peace and safety.

Violations detected during patrols

During the recent patrols, the teams identified 19 individuals allegedly involved in a range of violations. These included performing midnight wheelies on public roads, triple riding on motorcycles and scooters, operating vehicles without number plates and consuming alcohol in public places. The CCB has initiated cases against the individuals in connection with these offences.

Warning of stricter action and continued patrols

The agency said night patrols will continue and warned that strict action would be taken against activities that cause public nuisance or pose a threat to peace and order in the city. It also cautioned that repeat offenders would face tougher measures as part of its ongoing enforcement strategy.

What’s next

With the night patrols set to continue, the CCB indicated that similar operations will remain a part of its efforts to maintain public order and deter behaviour deemed hazardous or disruptive. The agency did not disclose additional details about the individuals booked or the specific locations where the violations were detected.
