APCPDCL plans awareness camps on solar power systems from October 6–8
The Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL) will conduct a three-day series of Seva Sethu Abhiyan awareness camps from Tuesday, October 6, within its jurisdiction to promote rooftop solar adoption among households. The initiative was announced by APCPDCL Chairman and Managing Director P. Pulla Reddy in a press release issued on Monday, October 5.
Campaign objective
According to the corporation, the primary goal of the camps is to bring solar power “closer to every household” by educating consumers about the benefits of installing rooftop solar systems. The outreach is aligned with the Central government’s PM Surya Ghar—Muft Bijli Yojana, under which households are encouraged to transition to rooftop solar as a means to reduce electricity expenses and increase the share of clean energy.
Financial assistance under PM Surya Ghar—Muft Bijli Yojana
APCPDCL highlighted that eligible residential consumers can access Central government subsidies for rooftop solar installations under the scheme. The financial assistance available includes:
- Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW rooftop solar system
- Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW system
- Rs 78,000 for 3 kW or higher systems
The corporation said the subsidy support is intended to ease upfront costs for households opting for rooftop solar, thereby facilitating wider adoption.
Schedule and coverage
The Seva Sethu Abhiyan camps will run from October 6 to 8 across APCPDCL’s operational areas. The utility said the outreach effort is designed to directly engage consumers in its jurisdiction and raise awareness about the benefits and support available for rooftop solar installations.
Announcement and expected impact
Announcing the initiative, CMD P. Pulla Reddy underscored APCPDCL’s focus on consumer awareness as a critical step toward accelerating solar uptake in the residential sector. By highlighting the subsidy structure under PM Surya Ghar—Muft Bijli Yojana, the corporation aims to help households make informed decisions about installing rooftop solar systems.
What to expect during the camps
Over the three days, APCPDCL’s camps are expected to inform consumers about rooftop solar options and the advantages of adoption under the Central scheme. The corporation said the awareness drive will concentrate on practical benefits for households and the financial support available to eligible consumers.
Significance
The three-day outreach underscores APCPDCL’s push to expand household-level renewable energy. By pairing on-ground awareness with the Central subsidy framework, the initiative seeks to lower entry barriers for residential rooftop solar and support the broader transition to cleaner power.
