White-topping work on Race Course Road, traffic diversions for 60 days
Traffic movement on key stretches of Race Course Road will be restricted for 60 days from Monday (October 5) as the Greater Bengaluru Authority has begun white-topping work along the corridor, according to the High Grounds Traffic Police.
Project overview
The ongoing work covers the stretch between Maurya Junction and Hare Krishna Road Junction. Police said the civic works include white-topping of the carriageway along with the construction of stormwater drains, sewage lines and associated utility infrastructure. The agency has urged commuters to plan ahead as the works are expected to continue over the next two months.
Traffic restrictions and diversions
As part of the traffic management plan, movement of all vehicles along certain approaches to Race Course Road has been curtailed:
- Traffic from Shivananda Junction towards Maurya Junction is prohibited.
- Traffic from Trilight Junction on Race Course Road towards Maurya Junction is prohibited.
Authorities said diversions will remain in force for the full 60-day period while the road and utility works are carried out. Motorists are advised to follow the signages and use the prescribed alternative routes announced by the traffic police.
Police advisory
The High Grounds Traffic Police have appealed to road users to cooperate with enforcement personnel on the ground and adhere to the diversions to ensure safety and smoother movement around work zones. They requested motorists to factor in additional travel time during peak hours and to avoid the affected stretches unless travel is essential.
What to expect next
With the infrastructure work under way on Race Course Road, police said they will continue to monitor traffic conditions and make adjustments to diversions if necessary. The restrictions will be lifted after the completion of the white-topping and associated civic works within the stipulated 60 days.
