India Cricketer Rinku Singh Set to Marry Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj

Date:

Star Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to marry Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Samajwadi Party (SP), as confirmed by her family. Priya’s father, Tufani Saroj, the SP MLA from Kerakat, revealed that meaningful discussions were held with Rinku Singh’s father in Aligarh on January 16, leading to mutual consent for the marriage.

Tufani Saroj clarified that no engagement or pre-wedding ceremonies have been conducted yet. “Both families have agreed to the marriage, but no formal functions have taken place,” he added.

According to Saroj, Priya and Rinku first met through a mutual acquaintance whose father is also involved in cricket. “They have known each other for over a year, developed feelings, and now, with the consent of both families, they are moving forward,” Tufani Saroj said.

The engagement ceremony is set to take place in Lucknow, with the dates for both the engagement and wedding to be confirmed after the ongoing Parliament session. Rinku Singh, who gained national attention for his explosive performance in IPL 2023, where he hit five sixes in an over against Gujarat Titans, has since been a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders, winning the IPL 2024 title and securing a place in India’s T20I squad. Rinku is also part of India’s upcoming five-match T20I series against England starting January 22 in Kolkata.

Tufani Saroj assured that the wedding functions will be planned around Rinku’s cricket commitments to ensure they do not interfere with his professional schedule. The two families finalized the alliance at Rinku Singh’s residence in Ozone City, Aligarh, where they exchanged ‘shagun’ and gifts.

Priya Saroj, a prominent Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr in Jaunpur, was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2024. A former Supreme Court lawyer, Priya first garnered attention while campaigning for her father during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She holds degrees in arts from Delhi University and law from Amity University, Noida.
