At least nine workers are missing after a cloudburst hit an under-construction hotel site near Paligad-Silai Band in Uttarkashi’s Barkot tehsil early Saturday. The flash floods, triggered around 2 am, impacted 28 workers—mostly of Nepali origin—engaged in road construction. NDRF, SDRF, and local police teams have launched rescue operations. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is monitoring the situation, while heavy rains continue to disrupt roads and raise river levels across Uttarakhand.

Grief gripped Jaipur as Lt Colonel (Retd.) Rajveer Singh Chauhan, the pilot who died in the Kedarnath helicopter crash, was laid to rest with full honors. His wife, Lt Colonel Deepika Chauhan, led the emotional funeral procession, holding his garlanded photo with folded hands and tearful eyes. The June 15 crash, caused by poor weather, claimed seven lives, including a Maharashtra family and a temple committee member.

Seven people, including a child and the pilot, lost their lives in a helicopter crash near Gaurikund, Uttarakhand, while returning from Kedarnath. Bad weather is suspected to be the cause. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has ordered strict safety measures and suspended helicopter services for the Char Dham Yatra until further notice. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will probe the incident.
