Saquib Abdul Hamid Nachan, a 67-year-old terror accused from Padgha near Mumbai, died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday after suffering a stroke while lodged in Tihar Jail. Arrested by the NIA in December 2023 for alleged links to ISIS, Nachan was accused of recruiting youth, running an ISIS module in Maharashtra, and training them to wage war against the state. A former SIMI office-bearer and convict in the 2002–03 Mumbai train blasts, Nachan was under trial when his health deteriorated earlier this week.

The southwest monsoon reached Delhi a day earlier than usual and has covered the entire country nine days ahead of schedule, the IMD said. This marks the fastest nationwide monsoon coverage since 2020. Despite a brief stagnation in early June, the monsoon advanced swiftly after its earliest onset in Kerala on May 24, aided by strong weather systems over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
