A new COVID-19 variant named NB.1.8.1 or “Nimbus” is gaining attention for causing an unusually painful symptom dubbed “razor blade throat.” Detected in parts of Asia and among travelers to the U.S., the variant currently poses a low global health risk, with no evidence suggesting more severe illness. Vaccines remain effective against it, according to the WHO.

A Supreme Court-appointed panel has recommended the removal of Justice Yashwant Varma after a large stash of cash was discovered at his official residence following a fire. A motion for his impeachment is likely to be introduced in Parliament.
