All 337 tonnes of hazardous waste from the defunct Union Carbide factory in Bhopal have been successfully incinerated at a facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, nearly six months after being transported there. The disposal, conducted under court orders and expert supervision, marks a major step in addressing the toxic legacy of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. Authorities confirmed that the waste did not contain methyl isocyanate, the deadly gas behind the disaster, and that residue from the incineration will be scientifically buried by year-end.
Indian Railways Fare Hike From July 1: Check New Rates for Sleeper, AC, and First Class Tickets
Indian Railways has announced a marginal hike in passenger train fares effective from 1 July 2025, aimed at simplifying fare structures and improving service sustainability. The revision includes increases of 0.5 to 2 paisa per kilometre across Second Class, Sleeper, First Class, and AC categories for both Ordinary and Mail/Express trains. Premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat are also included. Suburban fares and reservation charges remain unchanged.
