The BJP on Monday strongly criticised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks against the amended Waqf Act, accusing the INDIA bloc of hiding religious appeasement behind a facade of socialism. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi alleged that the opposition wants to turn the Constitution into a “Sharia script” and claimed their rallying cry of “Save the Constitution” is a cover for pushing “namazwaad”. He also defended the Election Commission’s voter roll revision in Bihar, calling the opposition’s objections a “defeatist mindset” ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
During a rally in Siwan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on the RJD-Congress alliance, accusing them of nurturing "mafia raj" and dynastic politics. Dedicating ₹10,000 crore worth of development projects, he urged voters to reject those responsible for Bihar’s "jungle raj" and migration crisis, asserting that the opposition prioritised family interests over public welfare.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow and addressed a public rally in Siwan, Bihar, unveiling and laying foundation stones for key development projects across railways, water, sanitation, and energy sectors. Major announcements included the inauguration of the Vaishali-Deoria rail line, launch of the Vande Bharat Express, rollout of sewage treatment plants under Namami Gange, and a 500 MWh battery storage system. He also distributed PMAY-U housing benefits to over 53,000 beneficiaries.
Supporters of Independent MP Pappu Yadav staged massive protests in Patna on January 12, demanding the cancellation and re-examination of the controversial Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam. The protests, which included burning tyres and blocking roads, caused significant traffic disruptions, particularly in areas like Kankarbagh and Ashok Rajpath. The unrest is driven by allegations of irregularities in the BPSC Combined Competitive Exam held in December 2024. The protests also coincided with Prashant Kishor's ongoing 'fast unto death' for the same cause. Despite the chaos, the police intervened, restoring order and normal traffic movement in the city.
