The Uttar Pradesh government has ramped up security measures ahead of the ‘Amrit Snan’ on Mauni Amavasya this Wednesday, expected to draw over 10 crore pilgrims to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. With over 15 crore pilgrims already participating in the event, the authorities have deployed thousands of security personnel, along with AI-powered CCTV cameras and drones, to monitor the Mela area. The Prayagraj administration has also urged local residents to avoid using cars and opt for two-wheelers to ease traffic congestion. Special rituals, including a flower petal shower from helicopters, are planned to mark the auspicious occasion. The Amrit Snan, believed to offer spiritual cleansing, is the grandest ritual of the Kumbh Mela, attracting millions of devotees from around the world.
