Sanjay Raut Granted Bail after Defamation Case Filed by BJP leader’s Wife

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut was granted bail on Thursday after being convicted in a defamation case filed by Medha Somaiya, the wife of former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya. The Sewree magistrate court sentenced Raut to 15 days in prison and imposed a ₹25,000 fine but later suspended the sentence for 30 days, allowing him to appeal. Medha alleged that Raut made defamatory statements regarding their involvement in a ₹100 crore scam related to public toilets, which were widely circulated in media. Her lawyer presented evidence to support the claims, arguing that Raut's statements were aimed at damaging her reputation.
