Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency, which portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A rating, following the recommendation of a revising committee. The committee mandated 13 modifications, including cuts and insertions, to address concerns from Sikh groups regarding certain scenes deemed objectionable. The Bombay High Court is scheduled to hear the case on September 30, as the co-producer, Zee Entertainment, seeks time to evaluate the proposed changes. The CBFC noted that the film includes depictions of political violence and references to social issues, justifying its suitability for viewers with parental guidance.

SC Criticizes Delhi Air Quality Panel for Inaction on Pollution and Stubble Burning

The Supreme Court criticized the Commission for Air Quality Management for its inaction regarding pollution and stubble burning in Delhi. The court emphasized that the commission needs to be more proactive in addressing these issues, noting that it has issued only a limited number of directives since the CAQM Act's inception. The justices expressed concern over the effectiveness of the commission's committees, which meet infrequently, and directed the commission to ensure that equipment provided to prevent stubble burning is actually utilized by farmers. A compliance report is expected by October 3.

India elected to 15-Member Steering Committee of GlobE Network

India has been elected to the 15-member steering committee of the GlobE Network, a global anti-corruption platform, following a multi-stage voting process in Beijing. With 121 member countries and 219 member authorities, the GlobE Network aims to combat corruption and facilitate asset recovery. A CBI spokesperson noted that India's expertise will be a valuable asset in shaping the global agenda against corruption. Launched in June 2021 at the UN General Assembly Special Session against Corruption, the GlobE Network allows agencies worldwide to share best practices and develop collaborative strategies. India's participation is expected to strengthen efforts against cross-border financial crimes.

Swiggy Submits IPO Papers to SEBI, Set to Issue ₹3,750 Crore in New Shares

Swiggy has officially applied for its IPO, submitting draft papers to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on September 26. The online food delivery platform plans to issue fresh equity shares worth ₹3,750 crore, while existing shareholders will sell around 18.52 crore equity shares through the Offer for Sale (OFS). This move positions Swiggy as the second company to be listed in the food delivery sector, following Zomato. Major investors in Swiggy include Prosus, SoftBank, and Accel, with notable participants in the share sale such as Excel, Alpha Wave, Elevation Capital, Norwest, and Tencent.

NADA Issues Notice to Vinesh Phogat: Response Required Within 14 Days

The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued a notice to wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat for a whereabouts failure, requiring her to respond within 14 days. This follows her recent retirement announcement after being disqualified from the Paris Olympics for being 100 grams overweight before her gold medal bout. As a member of NADA's Registered Testing Pool, Vinesh is required to provide her availability for dope tests. The notice states that she was unavailable for a scheduled test on September 9 at her residence in Kharkhoda village.
