Kiran Rao's film Laapataa Ladies has been selected as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025, creating a wave of excitement among the cast and crew. Actor Sparsh Shrivastava, who plays Deepak Kumar, expressed his joy, stating, "Everyone from Aamir Khan Productions to my whole family is really happy. It would be even better if we win."
Raj Thackeray, chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has warned theatres against the release of the Pakistani film "The Legend of Maula Jatt" in Maharashtra. In a post on social media, he stated that his party would not allow the film to be screened, questioning why films featuring Pakistani actors are permitted in India. Thackeray criticized the government for allowing such releases, emphasizing the need for action against promoting artists from a country that harbors animosity toward India. He also expressed concerns about potential unrest during the upcoming Navratri festival, coinciding with the film’s release. If released, "The Legend of Maula Jatt" would be the first Pakistani film in Indian theatres in 13 years.
