Gujarat police reported the death of Navalsinh Chavda, a self-proclaimed 'tantrik', who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly plotting a murder in Ahmedabad. Chavda, who confessed to killing 12 people using sodium nitrite, died in police custody after falling ill on December 8. The accused had reportedly lured victims through occult rituals, administering the toxic chemical, which causes heart failure, leading to their deaths. The murders took place across various cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Wankaner, and Anjar. The police are continuing their investigation into his crimes.
The CBI recently raided 10 locations in Delhi-NCR in connection with a Rs 117 crore transnational cyber fraud case. The fraudsters, operating from abroad, used digital platforms like websites, WhatsApp, and Telegram to deceive victims in India through part-time job scams and false investment promises. Funds were quickly moved through a network of mule accounts to obscure their origin. Incriminating evidence, including electronic devices and financial records, was seized during the raids at two locations in Gurugram and eight in Delhi.
