BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has accused NCP leader Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole of involvement in illegal bitcoin transactions to manipulate the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections in favor of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). At a press conference, Trivedi presented voice clippings and screenshots, alleging that the two opposition leaders conspired with a former police officer and a bitcoin dealer to channel illicit funds for the polls. The Baramati MP, Sule, strongly denied the allegations, calling them "conjecture and innuendo" and challenging Trivedi to a public debate. She also announced plans to issue a defamation notice against the BJP leader for spreading false claims.
In response to the escalating violence in Manipur, the Centre has dispatched an additional 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), comprising over 5,000 personnel, to the state. This follows the Ministry of Home Affairs' earlier deployment of 20 CAPF companies after unrest in Jiribam district. The newly deployed forces will strengthen security, bringing the total number of CAPF companies in Manipur to 218. Fresh protests erupted following the killing of six civilians, including three women and children, in Jiribam district. Enraged mobs targeted the residences of several political leaders, setting fire to homes of BJP and Congress legislators. The unrest, which saw attempts to storm the residence of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, has led to the imposition of an indefinite curfew across Imphal Valley. Shah has returned to Delhi as authorities struggle to maintain order in the region.
A tragic fire at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on Friday night claimed the lives of 10 children and injured several others. The blaze, caused by an electrical short circuit, erupted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where the children were in incubators. 32 others were rescued from the ward. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed immediate relief efforts, while Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak was sent to oversee the situation. An investigation into the incident has been ordered.
