By The Sampadak Express

Three days after a tragic car accident in Vadodara claimed the life of a woman and left four others seriously injured, CCTV footage has surfaced, revealing critical details of the events leading up to the incident. The accused, 20-year-old law student Rakshit Chaurasia, was seen in the footage, along with his friend Pranshu, at the residence of another acquaintance just before the crash.

The footage, shows Rakshit and Pranshu arriving on a scooter and engaging in conversation before entering the house. During this time, Rakshit is seen drinking from a bottle, though the exact contents of the bottle remain unclear.

In another clip, the black sedan involved in the crash can be seen crossing the road and parking nearby before Pranshu enters the house. The duo reportedly spent around 45 minutes at the location before leaving in the car, with Rakshit taking the driver’s seat while Pranshu moved to the passenger side.

The Fatal Accident

The fatal accident occurred on Friday when Rakshit, allegedly driving at high speed, rammed into multiple two-wheelers, killing a woman on the spot and injuring four others. Rakshit was seen in a video at the scene, appearing intoxicated and shouting, “Another round, another round!”Local residents intervened and apprehended Rakshit, a native of Varanasi, before handing him over to the police. Both he and Pranshu were arrested shortly after the incident.

Rakshit Denies Drunken Driving

In his defense, Rakshit denied being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He claimed the accident occurred due to a pothole that caused his car to lose control after the airbags deployed.”

We were ahead of the scooter, turning right, when we hit a pothole. The car slightly touched the two-wheeler, and suddenly, the airbag deployed, blocking my vision. The car then went out of control,” Rakshit told. He also stated that he was driving at a speed of only 50 km/h and had not consumed alcohol, explaining that he had attended a Holika Dahan celebration before the incident.

Expressing deep remorse, Rakshit admitted fault and stated he was willing to meet with the victims’ families. “I did not party, I was not drunk. Today, I learned that a woman has died and others are injured. I want to meet their families. It is my fault, and I will accept whatever decision is made,” he said.

The investigation into the incident continues as authorities evaluate the available evidence, including the CCTV footage and witness statements, to determine the cause of the accident.
