Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticized the Congress party for its dismal performance in the Delhi assembly elections, referring to its “zero” seat tally as a “double hattrick of defeat.” The Congress failed to secure a single seat for the third consecutive time, continuing its losing streak in the national capital. Modi described the Congress as awarding itself the “gold medal of defeat” and emphasized that the party has not managed to win even one seat in Delhi for the past six elections.
Addressing supporters at the BJP headquarters, Modi pointed out that the oldest party in India has faced a consistent downfall in the national capital, highlighting its inability to secure a win in the last three general elections as well. “The Congress has hit a double hattrick of ‘zero’ in the Delhi election. The oldest party in the country is not able to get even one seat in the national capital for the last six times,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister further lashed out at the Congress, calling it a “parasite” that not only fails to progress but also drags its allies down. “The Congress party has become a parasite. Not only does it go down itself, but it takes others with them. One by one, they are finishing off all their allies,” Modi said.
Attack on AAP and Kejriwal
Modi also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that the party, which emerged from the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, has betrayed its supporters by engaging in corruption. “The party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption. It became such a party of the country whose chief minister and ministers went to jail on corruption charges,” Modi stated.

He referred to Anna Hazare, the anti-corruption crusader, as someone who had long suffered due to the misdeeds of AAP leaders. “Today I was listening to Anna Hazare ji’s statement. He must have got relief from the pain caused by these people,” Modi added.
Focus on NDA’s Development Track Record
Modi also spoke about the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) governments, claiming that wherever the NDA has received a mandate, the states have seen substantial growth and development. “Wherever NDA has received the mandate, we have taken that state to new heights of development. People are electing our governments for the second and third time,” he remarked.
He highlighted examples of states like Gujarat, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh, where NDA leaders such as Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu had led their respective states to progress. “In Gujarat, there was a huge water crisis and farming was difficult, but today Gujarat has emerged as an agriculture powerhouse. Similarly, in Bihar, change came only when the NDA government came,” Modi stated.
BJP’s Victory in Delhi
The BJP’s success in the Delhi elections marked a significant milestone as it won 48 seats, securing a majority to form the government in the Union Territory for the first time in 27 years. Meanwhile, the AAP won 22 seats, and the Congress failed to win a single seat, just like the previous two elections.
Modi concluded his speech by asserting that the BJP government would table the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the upcoming assembly session, ensuring that those who have “looted” will have to return the funds.
