Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his historic visit to Kuwait, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception he received from the Indian community in the Gulf nation. Addressing the community event ‘Hala Modi’ on Saturday, the Prime Minister shared a deep sense of belonging, stating that the crowd in front of him made him feel like he was witnessing a “mini Hindustan.”
“I arrived in Kuwait just two and a half hours ago, and from the moment I stepped here, I’ve felt a unique sense of warmth and belonging. You all hail from various states of India, but standing here today, it feels as though a mini Hindustan has come together in front of me,” PM Modi remarked.
This visit marks a significant milestone as PM Modi becomes the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Kuwait in 43 years, following an invitation from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Prime Minister addressed a large gathering of the Indian diaspora, emphasizing the strong bond shared between India and Kuwait.
PM Modi praised the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, highlighting that their relationship goes beyond diplomacy, encompassing cultural and historical connections. “The relationship between India and Kuwait is one of civilizations, trade, and the ocean. We are linked not only by diplomacy but by our hearts. Our past and present are intertwined,” he said.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the Indian community to Kuwaiti society, noting that each year, hundreds of Indians come to Kuwait, adding an “Indian touch” to its culture. “You have infused Kuwaiti society with the essence of India’s talent, technology, and tradition,” he stated, emphasizing India’s role in supporting Kuwait’s vision of a “New Kuwait.”
The Prime Minister concluded by asserting that India possesses the skills, manpower, and technology required to contribute to the growth and development of Kuwait in the future.
