The Indian Air Force’s “destructive power” and air defence capabilities were showcased to the world during Operation Sindoor, Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh said, as the IAF’s marked its 94th Air Force Day at Hindon Air Base.

Addressing the celebrations, Air Chief Marshal Singh said the world had witnessed “firsthand the destructive power” of the IAF during the military conflict with Pakistan.

He said the IAF’s theme of being “Infallible, Impervious and Precise” was not merely a tagline but a manifestation of its strength and resolve. Operation Sindoor had demonstrated the force’s speed of combat operations and its ability to respond effectively to emerging threats, the Air Chief said.

“Our operational capabilities are growing in the right direction,” he said, asserting that the IAF remained “alert, committed and ready” to meet any challenge. “We will leave no stone unturned to meet and exceed expectations,” he added.

The Air Chief described the IAF as an “exceptional, capable, network-centric, and multi-domain force” that had evolved over 94 years into one of the finest air forces in the world.

He paid tribute to air warriors who had laid down their lives in the service of the nation and said recent conflicts across the world had underscored the importance of air power in protecting national interests.

My biggest fortune

With his superannuation due on October 31, Air Chief Marshal Singh described serving as IAF chief as “my biggest fortune” and said it was a proud moment for him.

The celebrations featured a ceremonial parade and display of the IAF’s combat capabilities. The Air Chief arrived at the parade venue in a 1960s-era car as three helicopters flew past in Dhwaj formation.

The static display featured frontline aircraft, including the Rafale, Su-30MKI, and Jaguar, the LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv helicopters, critical weapons, and air defence systems.

In a message, President Droupadi Murmu praised the IAF’s courage, precision and operational preparedness, particularly during Operation Sindoor, and lauded its contribution to national security and humanitarian assistance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the nation was proud of its air warriors and saluted their courage, commitment and service in protecting India’s skies.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the IAF as a symbol of courage, valour, discipline and professionalism, saying its personnel had consistently risen to every challenge and strengthened the country’s security. The three Service chiefs, senior military officials and former IAF chiefs attended the celebrations.
