On Saturday, Mumbai Police received a threatening message claiming an attempt on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The message, sent via WhatsApp to the traffic police helpline, referred to two ISI agents and a planned bomb attack targeting PM Modi. The police traced the message to a number registered in Ajmer, Rajasthan, and quickly dispatched a team to apprehend the suspect.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the sender might be mentally disturbed or under the influence of alcohol, though inquiries are ongoing. An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. This is not the first time the Mumbai traffic police helpline has received hoax threats.
Death Threats to Salman Khan
In a related incident, the Mumbai traffic police received two death threats against actor Salman Khan in the last 10 days. The most recent threat, sent on Friday, stated that Khan should either apologize at a Bishnoi community temple in Rajasthan or pay ₹5 crore to avoid being eliminated. The message warned that the Bishnoi gang, still active, would carry out the attack if the demands were not met.
Khan has previously received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The notorious gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, is linked to various criminal activities. Bishnoi is currently imprisoned in Sabarmati jail for charges including attempted murder and extortion. In April, suspected gang members even opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra residence.
Although the recent threats to Khan are being taken seriously, authorities are investigating whether the message is genuinely linked to the Bishnoi gang or was just a hoax. Mumbai police have increased security for the actor and are working with cyber experts to track the sender of the latest threat. A senior officer emphasized, “We cannot take any threat lightly, even if it does not appear too serious at the moment.”
