A shocking incident of rape and assault has been reported from Telangana, where a minor girl was allegedly attacked by a co-passenger inside a train’s washroom. The incident occurred on April 3, when the accused, a man in his 20s, subjected the girl to aggravated sexual assault and rape while she was traveling with her family.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the accused followed the girl to the washroom and assaulted her inside. The victim’s family members were traveling with her at the time of the incident. A case has been registered at the Railway Police Station (RPS) in Secunderabad, Telangana, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family.
The GRP has launched an investigation into the incident and is questioning the accused. When asked if the accused had been taken into custody, a senior GRP official said that he was currently being questioned.
This horrific incident comes days after another similar incident took place on March 22, when a 23-year-old woman sustained injuries after jumping out of a moving train to escape a man who allegedly tried to rape her. The victim was traveling alone in the ladies’ coach of an MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) train from the Secunderabad railway station to Medchal when the incident occurred.
The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of women and children in public places, particularly in trains. The authorities have been urged to take strict action against the accused and to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
