Mayawati Reappoints Nephew Akash Anand as BSP Chief National Coordinator

By The Sampadak Express

In a significant political development, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has reappointed her nephew Akash Anand as the party’s Chief National Coordinator. The announcement comes months after he was removed from all party positions. The decision was finalized during a national-level meeting held at the party’s Central Office on Lodhi Road in Delhi.

As part of his new responsibilities, Akash Anand will also spearhead the BSP’s campaign efforts for the upcoming elections. The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, state representatives, and national coordinators, where key issues concerning the organisation and the political roadmap were discussed.

Mayawati expressed hope that Akash would work with renewed dedication and maturity to further strengthen the ideological foundations of the BSP. “It is hoped that Akash Anand will take measures carefully in the interest of the party and the movement,” read an official BSP statement.

In addition to Akash, Mayawati has appointed three other national coordinators Ram Ji Gautam, Randhir Beniwal, and Raja Ram to support the party’s organizational efforts, according to sources.

Akash Anand was previously expelled from the BSP on March 3, following internal differences. However, he was reinstated just over a month later on April 13 after he publicly apologized and pledged loyalty to Mayawati, calling her his “sole political guru.” He also distanced himself from his father-in-law Siddharth’s alleged involvement in party affairs.

While reinstating him, Mayawati warned Akash not to be influenced by external factors and urged party members to support him in his new role. “By admitting his mistakes and showing respect to party seniors, Akash has shown commitment to the BSP and the movement,” she said.

Akash Anand was earlier seen as Mayawati’s political successor and held the position of National Coordinator. However, in 2024, Mayawati withdrew his responsibilities citing the need for greater maturity.

His return now, though in a cautious and recalibrated role, marks a renewed phase in his political journey within the BSP.
