Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday at Azad Maidan. This follows the approval of his candidacy by the BJP’s core committee, which was later ratified by the state BJP legislative party. Fadnavis was unanimously elected as the leader of the Maharashtra Assembly during a key party meeting.
In the core committee session, BJP’s top leadership formally endorsed Fadnavis for the CM position. Subsequently, 132 BJP MLAs also unanimously selected him as the leader of the Maharashtra legislative party.
In his first address at the state legislative party meeting, Fadnavis expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “The recent state assembly elections were an eye-opener and proved the saying, ‘Ek Hain To Safe Hain’. The mantra ‘Modi Hai To Mumkin Hai’ holds true.”
Fadnavis also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and other senior leaders for their continued support. “I am grateful to Prime Minister Modi for giving an ordinary karyakarta like me the opportunity to serve as CM three times,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the 2.5-year tenure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis noted, “The MVA government created difficult circumstances for our party workers and leaders, subjecting them to harassment and false charges. However, through hard work and dedication, our leaders and karyakartas successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a positive outcome in the assembly elections.”
Looking ahead, Fadnavis assured that his government would work tirelessly for the welfare of all segments of society, including people from various castes, communities, and religions, as well as backward and oppressed classes. “Our government is committed to serving the people 24/7,” he said.
