Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’ is already making waves ahead of its release, garnering praise from none other than Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
During the ongoing Waves Summit 2025 in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis lauded the scale and quality of the film while speaking with writer producer Namit Malhotra. Reflecting on India’s rich storytelling heritage, he said, “I think, as you rightly said, we are the world’s oldest storytellers. Our art, drama, and music are very old, and we only wanted to couple it with the latest technology and I think that’s what you are doing.”
The Chief Minister added, “When I visited your pavilion with the Prime Minister, I was amazed to see the quality of Ramayana that you are creating. I believe what you are setting up will be the best in the globe.”
About the Film
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a stellar cast with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Kannada superstar Yash portraying Ravana. The ensemble also includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Lara Dutta in significant roles.
The ambitious project is set to release in two parts, with the first installment slated for Diwali 2026 and the second in 2027.
Taking Indian Stories Global
Producer Namit Malhotra shared his vision behind the film, stating that Ramayana aims to showcase Indian storytelling on a global stage. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, “I’m keen to not just make India proud but also excite the world about Indian storytelling and really celebrate global cinema together. We love films like Oppenheimer and Forrest Gump their stories are universal. I believe this one is, too.”
With high expectations and strong support from industry leaders and political figures alike, Ramayana is shaping up to be a landmark moment in Indian cinema.
