The Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has inducted 39 ministers, including 18 first-time MLAs, from its key allies Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This brings the total number of ministers in the cabinet to 42, just one short of the maximum allowable limit of 43.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in Nagpur on Sunday, where Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of secrecy and integrity to the new ministers. The cabinet reshuffle comes ten days after Fadnavis assumed office as the Chief Minister, with Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as his deputies.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his congratulations to all Shiv Sena MLAs who were appointed as ministers. On social media, Shinde said, “I congratulate all the newly elected ministers and wish them the best for their ministerial careers. I am confident that every Shiv Sena minister will remain committed to fulfilling the hopes and expectations of the common man of the state.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar addressed party workers in Nagpur, assuring that those MLAs not included in this cabinet reshuffle would also be given opportunities in the future. “We will provide opportunities to others as well, for two-and-a-half years,” Pawar said.
The newly formed cabinet is expected to focus on delivering on the promises made during the election campaign and addressing key issues faced by the state.
