AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge said he will raise concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the proposed delimitation exercise and the implementation of women’s reservation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an interaction scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026. He made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi, according to The Hindu.
Mr. Kharge said he has already written to the Prime Minister outlining these issues and plans to detail what he views as the implications of the electoral roll revision and delimitation. He added that he will also seek clarity on the delay in enforcing women’s reservation. “I have personally written to the Prime Minister in this regard,” he said, indicating he would elaborate on his concerns during Wednesday’s interaction.
Extending Dasara greetings, Mr. Kharge expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness nationwide. Noting the distress caused by a rainfall deficit, he voiced hope that changing weather conditions would offer relief.
Drawing a parallel with the Mysuru Dasara, Mr. Kharge called for a grand annual Dasara celebration to be organised in the Kalyana Karnataka region—preferably in Kalaburagi—from next year to promote cultural heritage and unity across the State. He said he would discuss the proposal with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and explore ways to stage a celebration designed for broad public participation and social harmony.
Mr. Kharge is expected to outline his concerns on electoral processes and women’s reservation to the Prime Minister during their interaction on Wednesday.
