The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) unveiled fresh slates for municipal mayoral posts on Saturday, October 17, 2026, setting up a direct contest in Vijayawada between JSP’s Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and YSRCP’s Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi a day before the nomination deadline for local body polls, The Hindu reported.
JSP named Vangaveeti Radhakrishna as its mayoral nominee for the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. The move follows his switch to the JSP from the TDP two days earlier; he had joined the TDP in early 2019.
The YSRCP announced Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi for the Vijayawada mayoral post and Alivelu Padma Sridevi for Guntur. Its other mayoral picks include Y. Vasudeva Yadav (Tirupati), U. Suseela (Kurnool), Chitlur Ramesh Goud (Anantapur) and R. Chandrasekhar (Chittoor). The party also released candidates for 10 municipalities and seven nagar panchayats on October 16.
The TDP issued a list of eight mayoral candidates over the past two days. They are Mukka Sravani, a physiotherapist and daughter of party loyalist M. Mutyala Naidu, for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC); Katari Hemalatha (Chittoor); Nellaturi Suvarna (Kadapa); Vijaya Pratyusha (Kurnool); Polaboina Roop Kumar (Nellore); Mennam Srinivas Prasad (Tirupati); Avanapu Bhargavi (Vizianagaram); and Sheik Abdul Abeeda (Machilipatnam). The party further announced candidates for 29 municipalities and nagar panchayats on October 16 and 21 more on October 17.
Beyond Vijayawada, the JSP fielded Srireddy Appala Naidu for the Eluru Municipal Corporation and declared candidates for 12 municipalities.
The candidate roll-outs across the three parties came a day before the final date for filing nominations for the local body elections.
