J&K Police Raids Residences of 63 Terror Associates in Srinagar; Terrorist Hideout Busted in Kupwara

In a major crackdown on terrorist networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out extensive raids at the residences of 63 individuals suspected to be Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and associates of proscribed terrorist organizations in Srinagar.

According to an official statement, the coordinated operation was conducted as part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The raids, conducted with strict adherence to legal protocols, were supervised by senior police officers and carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses.

The objective of the operation was to recover weapons, digital devices, documents, and other incriminating material to aid ongoing investigations and gather actionable intelligence. This decisive step aims to disrupt and dismantle the terror ecosystem operating within the region.”

The Srinagar Police is committed to upholding peace and security in the city. Individuals involved in promoting violence or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences,” the police said in a press release.

In a related development, security forces achieved a breakthrough in north Kashmir. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police in collaboration with the Indian Army’s 12 SIKH LI unit, conducted a joint operation in the forested Sedori Nala area of Mushtaqabad Machil, falling under Kupwara district.

During the search, a terrorist hideout was discovered and dismantled. The forces recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from the site, which included:

5 AK-47 rifles

8 AK-47 magazines

660 AK-47 rounds

1 pistol and magazine

1 pistol round

50 rounds of M4 ammunition

This significant recovery is expected to severely impact the operational capabilities of terror groups active in the region.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir and have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
