A tragic accident occurred at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday, claiming the life of a 40-year-old passenger who slipped and fell while attempting to board a moving train. The incident took place at platform number 8, near the Hyderabad-end foot overbridge, as the victim tried to catch the Danapur Express.

The deceased, identified as Pavan Kumar, was a native of Sonpurwa village in Garhwa district, Jharkhand. According to preliminary reports, Kumar arrived late and attempted to board the Danapur Express while it was already in motion. In the process, he lost his balance and slipped into the narrow gap between the platform and the train.

Witnesses immediately alerted railway authorities. Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad, quickly reached the scene and rescued the victim from the tracks. Kumar was rushed to Gandhi Hospital for emergency medical attention. Unfortunately, doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities have confirmed that the body was sent for postmortem examination. Once the medico-legal formalities are completed, the remains will be handed over to the bereaved family, who have been notified.

Railway officials expressed their condolences and urged passengers to avoid attempting to board or alight from moving trains, highlighting the dangers involved. “We appeal to all travelers to adhere to safety protocols and ensure they board trains only when they are at a complete halt,” an RPF official stated.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and any lapses that may have occurred.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks posed by rushing to catch moving trains, and railway authorities are expected to review safety measures at busy platforms to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
