Jaishankar’s Security Upgraded Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

By The Sampadak Express

In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the central government has further strengthened the security cover of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. According to official sources, an additional bulletproof vehicle has been added to the minister’s convoy following a recent threat assessment.

Jaishankar currently receives ‘Z’ category protection from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which includes over a dozen armed commandos. The latest enhancement aims to ensure increased safety during his nationwide engagements.

The decision comes after a security review conducted in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The attack sparked a short-lived but intense flare-up between the two countries. Officials noted that the threat perception for senior figures involved in national security and foreign policy has significantly risen.

This marks the second security upgrade for Jaishankar in recent months. In October 2024, his protection level was elevated from ‘Y’ to ‘Z’ category.

Jaishankar, 69, has emerged as a key figure in India’s diplomatic front, especially following Operation Sindoor a major counter-terrorism offensive against Pakistan-based terror groups.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces reportedly eliminated over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen through precision strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Following these operations, Pakistan responded with cross-border shelling and drone attempts on Indian military facilities, prompting retaliatory strikes from India on Pakistani radar systems, airbases, and communication centers. The conflict de-escalated after a mutual ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10.

Jaishankar is among more than 210 high-profile individuals under CRPF protection. Other notable names include Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as well as the Dalai Lama.
