Madhva Jayanti was observed in Yadgir on Wednesday with a district-level event at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where speakers said Jagadguru Srimad Madhvacharya’s teachings continue to inspire people to uphold moral values, according to The Hindu.
The programme was organised by the district administration and the Zilla Panchayat to mark the birth anniversary of Madhvacharya, the exponent of the Dvaita school of philosophy.
Pandit Narasimhachar Puranik delivered a discourse after offering prayers to Madhvacharya, highlighting the saint-philosopher’s contributions to the religious, spiritual and philosophical fields. He urged people to adopt Madhvacharya’s principles in daily life and to promote spiritual awareness and ethical values in society.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kolar said Madhvacharya’s life and work remain a source of inspiration. He added that observances marking the anniversaries of philosophers and spiritual leaders provide opportunities to understand their teachings and share their message more widely. Mr. Kolar also conveyed greetings to members of the Vipra community attending the event.
Officials and community representatives paid floral tributes to Madhvacharya. Those present included Raghavendra Achar Joshi, District Brahmin Association general secretary Shankar Narayan and advocate Narsingrao Kinikeri.
