Food Safety officials seize 44 kg of unlabelled food in Narasaraopet
Food Safety officials in Andhra Pradesh seized 44 kg of unlabelled food products during a round of inspections in Narasaraopet, Palnadu district, on Wednesday, a day after conducting similar checks at eateries in Vijayawada. The inspections, carried out under the supervision of Food Safety Director P. Arun Babu, also led to cases being registered against several restaurants for hygiene-related violations.
Inspection drive extends to Palnadu district
Continuing their enforcement activity following checks in Vijayawada, teams of food inspectors visited multiple hotels and restaurants in Narasaraopet. Officials examined kitchen hygiene practices, assessed the quality of prepared and stored food, and verified operating permissions and documentation at the establishments.
Seizure of unlabelled products
During the inspections, authorities seized a total of 44 kg of unlabelled food products. The officials did not specify the types of items seized but noted that they were confiscated during routine compliance checks undertaken across various premises in the town.
Samples dispatched for laboratory testing
In addition to the seizures, samples from several food products collected during the visits were sent to laboratories for analysis. The testing will help determine compliance with quality and safety standards as part of the ongoing scrutiny of food handling and storage practices.
Cases registered over hygiene violations
Cases were registered against five establishments for various violations relating to hygiene. The restaurants named by officials are RK Restaurant, Jupalli Spices Hotel, H6 Restaurant, Shaz Biryani Point and AK Biryani Point.
