Entry Restricted at Delhi Secretariat Following BJP’s Victory; No Files to Be Moved Out

By The Sampadak Express

In the wake of the BJP’s decisive win in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Delhi Secretariat has imposed strict security measures. On Saturday, the General Administration Department (GAD) issued orders to prohibit the removal of files, documents, and electronic records from the Secretariat without prior approval. The directive was put in place to safeguard the complex’s official records and ensure security following the BJP’s return to power, ending a decade-long reign of the AAP.

According to the GAD order, “No files/documents, computer hardware, etc., may be taken outside the Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from GAD.” The instruction emphasized the need for protecting official materials under the responsibility of different departments and branches within the Secretariat. The orders apply to all officers working in the Secretariat, as well as to those in charge of camp offices of ministers.

In addition, access to the Secretariat complex will now be strictly regulated. A second order mandates that private individuals can only enter after their identity and visit purpose are properly verified. The order stresses that only authorized persons will be allowed inside, with private security guards instructed to increase vigilance across all floors. Additionally, the Delhi Police and reception staff have been asked to be more cautious in screening visitors. CCTV cameras will also operate around the clock to monitor activity.

Reports suggesting that the Secretariat had been sealed completely were quickly dismissed by officials. They clarified that the heightened security measures were precautionary and not as severe as initially speculated.

The BJP’s victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats, marked its return to power in Delhi after 27 years, ending the AAP’s decade-long rule. Despite a strong showing by the AAP, winning 22 seats, the party suffered several major losses, including the defeat of key figures like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Awadh Ojha. However, outgoing Chief Minister Atishi managed to secure her seat by defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

The strengthened security measures reflect the sensitive nature of the political shift, as both the government and the public focus on ensuring a smooth transition of power.
