BEML Mysuru unveils 60-tonne Electric Dump Truck for mining operations
BEML Limited on Wednesday unveiled India’s first indigenously designed and developed 60-tonne Electric Dump Truck, the BH60-EV, at its Mysuru complex, marking a significant milestone in high-capacity electric mobility for the mining and infrastructure sectors.
Launch details and product overview
The next-generation dump truck was virtually launched by Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Limited, in the presence of the company’s functional directors, senior officers and employees. According to BEML, the launch underscores its push toward advanced, sustainable and technology-driven solutions for heavy industry.
Designed and developed at BEML’s Mysuru complex, the BH60-EV combines a high payload capacity with an advanced electric powertrain and operator-focused engineering. The vehicle delivers zero tailpipe emissions during operation and is built to withstand the demanding conditions of mining and large-scale infrastructure works, while supporting the sector’s transition to cleaner and more efficient mobility, the company said in a press release.
Charging ecosystem and operational savings
BEML is also offering a complete charging station solution intended to integrate with customers’ site electrical infrastructure and scale for fleet operations. The company said this integrated approach allows operators to adopt electric heavy-duty equipment with a charging ecosystem tailored to their specific operational requirements.
According to BEML, the BH60-EV is designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered dump trucks. The vehicle is also expected to enable an estimated annual reduction of around 130 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per truck, subject to operating conditions.
Leadership statement
“The BH60-EV marks a significant milestone in BEML’s journey towards next-generation electric mobility for heavy industry. With indigenous engineering, advanced battery technology and a strong focus on performance, safety and sustainability, we are creating solutions that can support both industrial productivity and the transition towards a cleaner future,” said Mr. Roy.
Part of a growing EV portfolio
The BH60-EV expands BEML’s electric vehicle portfolio and follows the launch of its 35-ton Electric Dump Truck on April 10, 2026. The company said the new model extends its capabilities in higher-capacity segments to meet evolving requirements in mining and infrastructure development.
The unveiling at Mysuru represents a key step in the electrification of heavy-duty equipment in India, aligning operational performance with environmental goals as industrial users evaluate fleet-wide transitions to cleaner technologies.
