In a significant move underscoring India’s united stand against terrorism, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has joined the Indian government’s anti-terror delegations to foreign nations. His participation marks a notable political alignment in India’s broader diplomatic efforts following the recent Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province.
Speaking on Saturday, the Hyderabad MP reaffirmed his commitment to unveiling what he described as Pakistan’s misleading portrayal of itself as an Islamic nation. “This narrative is bakwas (nonsense),” Owaisi stated, pointing to India’s own 200 million-strong Muslim population. He emphasized the need to inform global audiences about the long history of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism that has directly impacted India.“
From the time of Zia-ul-Haq, India has faced the brunt of Pakistan-supported terror. Whether it’s the Kandahar hijacking, 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the 2001 Parliament attack, or recent incidents like Uri, Pathankot, Reasi, and Pahalgam these are crimes against humanity that must be exposed,” Owaisi said.
He also urged nations like Turkey to reconsider their stance on Pakistan. Citing historical ties, he mentioned, “Turkey should remember that India once contributed to institutions like İşbank, where many depositors were Indians.”
The inclusion of Owaisi in the delegation comes alongside the appointment of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor to lead the U.S. mission as part of a 10-day global diplomatic outreach. The effort follows the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and aims to present a unified Indian voice against terrorism. Delegations will travel to the United States, European Union, UK, UAE, Japan, Australia, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Despite recent intra-party disagreements, Tharoor’s appointment was confirmed by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, who emphasized national solidarity over political differences. “In critical moments, Bharat remains united,” Rijiju said, highlighting the formation of seven all-party delegations to amplify India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid will head the delegation to Japan, while Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has been assigned the mission to the UAE and select African nations.
The primary objective of this diplomatic initiative is to build global consensus on Pakistan’s alleged involvement in terrorism and to present a collective Indian position on a global platform.
