5.8-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Jammu & Kashmir; No Reports of Damage or Injuries

A moderate-intensity earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir around 1 PM on Saturday, triggering mild tremors across several parts of the Valley. According to officials, there have been no reports of any loss of life or damage to property.

The earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre in neighbouring Pakistan. It was recorded at a latitude of 33.63° North and a longitude of 72.46° East, with a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the surface.

Residents in parts of Srinagar and other districts reported feeling the tremors, which lasted for a few seconds. The quake caused momentary panic among people, many of whom rushed out of buildings and homes as a precaution.

Authorities confirmed that there is no cause for alarm, as no structural damage or casualties have been reported from any region of Jammu and Kashmir so far.

Seismologists continue to monitor the region for any possible aftershocks.
