“Government to Introduce Three Bills on One Nation, One Election; Two Will Be Constitutional Amendment Bills

The government is set to introduce three bills to advance its ‘one nation, one election’ initiative, including two constitutional amendment bills. One bill will align local body elections with Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections, requiring approval from at least 50 percent of the states. Another constitutional amendment aims to enable simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and state Assemblies by amending Article 82A. The third bill will amend laws governing Union territories with legislative assemblies—Puducherry, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir—to synchronize their terms with those of the Lok Sabha. A high-level committee recommended implementing this initiative in two phases, starting with Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections, followed by local body elections within 100 days of the general election.

“Indian Railways Launches 6,000 Special Trains for October Festival Rush”

In anticipation of the festive season, Indian Railways has announced plans to introduce nearly 6,000 special trains to accommodate the surge in passenger demand during October, which includes major festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. This initiative aims to serve over one crore (10 million) travelers, particularly on routes to states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has also confirmed the addition of general coaches to regular trains, enhancing capacity and comfort. With this year's deployment of 5,975 special trains, compared to 4,429 last year, Indian Railways is committed to ensuring a smooth travel experience during the busy festive period.

“Delhi Police Constable Dies in Hit-and-Run incident; Body Dragged for 10 Meters.”

A 30-year-old Delhi Police constable, Sandeep, was killed in a hit-and-run incident while on duty in Nangloi, West Delhi. Disguised as a civilian to combat local burglaries, he was struck by a reckless driver who dragged his body along with his motorcycle for over 10 meters. Despite efforts to alert the driver, the vehicle sped up and collided with him, resulting in severe injuries. Sandeep was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a murder case against the occupants of the vehicle, who remain at large. The department expressed its sorrow over the tragic loss.

“Haryana: congress Suspends 2 Leaders Due to Anti-Party Activities.”

Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, the Congress party has expelled two leaders, Virender Gogria and Somvir Ghasola, for six years due to their involvement in anti-party activities. This decision follows reports of these leaders contesting the elections against official party candidates, as the party aims to curb indiscipline. On September 27, Congress had already suspended 13 leaders for similar reasons. Haryana Congress Chief Udai Bhan has called for strict action against rebels undermining the party, emphasizing the need to maintain discipline as the state prepares for polls on October 5.
