The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will contest 48 of the 62 divisions in Vizianagaram under a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seat-sharing arrangement announced on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) allotted 10 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) four, according to The Hindu.
TDP MLA Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi said the understanding among the three NDA partners would position the alliance strongly for the upcoming Vizianagaram mayoral election. She described the agreement as having been concluded smoothly and credited cooperation from JSP leaders in finalising the division of seats.
Vijaya Lakshmi, who campaigned alongside the TDP’s mayoral candidate Avanapu Bhargavi in the city’s 62nd ward on Wednesday, said the TDP had won the Vizianagaram seat in the 2024 elections by a margin of 60,000 votes. She expressed confidence that Bhargavi would secure a large majority in the mayoral race.
She thanked JSP Parliament coordinator Avanapu Vikram and JSP senior leader Palavalasa Yeshaswi, among others, for their role in concluding the deal with the TDP and BJP.
Bhargavi said her father-in-law, Avanapu Suribabu, had developed Vizianagaram during his tenure as municipal chairperson about a decade ago. She pledged upgrades to civic infrastructure across all 62 wards of the district headquarters town if elected mayor.
Her husband, senior TDP leader Avanapu Vijay, criticised the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for what he described as a lack of development in Vizianagaram despite the party winning 48 divisions in the 2019 local body elections. He said development work undertaken by MLA Vijaya Lakshmi over the past two years would aid Bhargavi’s campaign.
Under the NDA formula, the TDP will field candidates in 48 divisions, the JSP in 10 and the BJP in four across Vizianagaram.
