Nemili police in Tamil Nadu’s Ranipet district arrested four men on Tuesday in connection with the October 13 killing of a daily wage labourer, R. Manikandan (27), following a dispute, according to details reported by The Hindu.
Police identified the arrested as R. Inbarasu (21), S. Akash (24), T. Rahul Gandhi (22) and G. Vignesh (22), all residents of Nemili village. Initial inquiries found that Manikandan and Inbarasu had been quarrelling for months over parking two-wheelers near the victim’s house, officers said.
Investigators said Inbarasu and his friends allegedly decided to “eliminate” Manikandan to end the dispute. The group is accused of intercepting him as he was returning home and hacking him to death on October 13, police said.
Special teams were formed to trace the suspects, and officers reviewed CCTV footage along the route and conducted local inquiries. The four were taken into custody from a hideout in the village, police said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is under way, according to police.
