A 3,500-drone light show organised by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) drew large crowds to the Torchlight Parade Grounds in Bannimantap, Mysuru, on Saturday night during the Dasara festivities, in an attempt to enter the Guinness World Records with a giant peacock formation, The Hindu reported.
The synchronised drones, equipped with LED lights, created 12 sequential formations that included Goddess Chamundeshwari, a lion, a giant peacock and an elephant carrying the golden howdah, presenting Mysuru Dasara’s heritage through a high-tech aerial display.
The programme opened with a visual depiction of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar welcoming people to the celebrations, according to the report.
Additional formations featured a galaxy, a soldier and a butterfly. Religious imagery such as the Sudarshana Chakra and Shiva Tandava, along with a Nandi statue, added to the thematic showcase of the city’s cultural icons.
Singers Indu Nagaraj, Sri Harsha, Vyasaraj, Divya Ramachandra and Aishwarya Rangarajan performed ahead of the drone display.
District in-charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah inaugurated the event. MLAs Tanveer Sait and Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, CESC Chairman and actor Anusha Rai, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar and CESC Managing Director M.S. Archana were among those present.
CESC said the show was mounted as a Guinness World Records attempt by forming a large peacock in the night sky using thousands of drones.
