The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an extensive internal restructuring to elect a new national president. High-level meetings in Delhi over the past few days reveal how the party is handling region-specific issues, caste dynamics, and its future election strategies.
State-Level Appointments Pave the Way
The BJP has restarted its internal elections—an essential step before choosing a new national chief. The party’s rules require elections in more than half of India’s 37 state and union territory units before the national-level selection. So far, 14 units have completed their appointments. Five more—Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana—are expected to announce new state presidents by July 1.
This isn’t just a routine update. The party is aligning leadership changes with big elections, including Bihar in 2025 and Uttar Pradesh in 2027.
Uttar Pradesh: BJP’s Toughest Hurdle
Uttar Pradesh remains the trickiest challenge. Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary’s term as state BJP president has ended, but the party hasn’t picked a successor yet. Given UP’s size and political impact, leaders are proceeding cautiously. According to sources in The Sampadak Express, the national president won’t be chosen until the UP issue is resolved.

BJP may pick an OBC or Dalit leader to lead its UP unit, hoping to signal broader representation. Since Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath belongs to the Thakur community, appointing a backward caste or marginalized community figure could balance the power structure. Still, debates within the party—especially after recent losses among Dalit and OBC voters—have delayed any final decision.
State-Wide Reforms Continue
Nominations are underway in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana. In Maharashtra, acting president Ravindra Chavan may get the full-time role. Meanwhile, West Bengal is set for a leadership change. The BJP wants a strong woman leader who can counter Mamata Banerjee in the 2026 Assembly polls.
In Karnataka, the party is considering CT Ravi or Sunil Kumar to replace BY Vijayendra. Over in Madhya Pradesh, four candidates are being evaluated after a round of internal brainstorming.
RSS Plays Key Role Ahead of PM’s Tour
The Sampadak Express has learned that the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) is playing a direct role in finalizing these appointments. The BJP wants to complete this process before Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his upcoming tour to five countries. Leaders believe this will unify the party and avoid any delays that might interfere with the Bihar Assembly elections.
Strategy, Visibility, and SEO Focus
This isn’t just about picking names. BJP’s leadership revamp is part of a larger strategy to fine-tune its election machinery. From BJP internal elections to state-level reshuffle and caste-based leadership, the developments have strong potential for SEO-optimized political reporting.
The Sampadak Express continues to track these shifts, offering timely updates and behind-the-scenes political analysis.
