Tehran draws red lines as missile exchanges with Israel enter sixth day, and Washington signals deeper involvement.

As Israel and Iran edge closer to direct confrontation, Iran’s top diplomat has issued a chilling warning: if the United States militarily intervenes, the region could plunge into an uncontrollable war. The statement reflects Tehran’s hardened posture, a message aimed squarely at Washington and Tel Aviv — but with reverberations that reach far beyond West Asia.
Tehran’s Red Lines
Speaking from Tehran, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei issued a blunt warning: “Any American intervention would be a recipe for an all-out war in the region.” The statement comes amid growing speculation that Washington may play a more active role, after US President Donald Trump hinted at pursuing “something much bigger” than a ceasefire.
Rising Firepower, Rising Fears
Overnight, Iran launched waves of missile attacks targeting central and northern Israel, including Tel Aviv. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it deployed its hypersonic Fattah-1 missiles—capable of evading interception. Israel’s health ministry reported 94 people injured during the strikes.
In response, Israel said it struck key Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure, including centrifuge production sites near Tehran and Karaj. The UN’s nuclear watchdog confirmed hits on two facilities, with one building “destroyed” where advanced centrifuge components were made.
Amid rising civilian panic, residents in Tehran began evacuating, fearing escalation from both Israeli and potential US military action.
Words on Fire
Trump’s rhetoric added fuel to the crisis, declaring Iran must offer “unconditional surrender” and claiming the US could “easily” eliminate Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. “We are not going to take him out — at least not for now,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Khamenei responded defiantly: “This nation will never surrender,” warning the US of “irreparable damage” if it intervenes.
Regional and Global Ripples
Iran claims to have downed an Israeli F-35 jet and a Hermes drone, while more than 700 foreign nationals have fled Iran to neighbouring Armenia and Azerbaijan. The US temporarily closed its embassy in Jerusalem, citing security concerns. China and the EU have urged restraint.
According to Iranian rights groups, at least 585 people have died in Israeli attacks, including 239 civilians. Iranian attacks have reportedly killed over 24 Israelis so far.
“We will respond strongly, seriously, and without restraint,” Iran’s UN ambassador Ali Bahreini told reporters in Geneva.
What This Means for India
India finds itself in a delicate position, given its strategic and economic ties with both Israel and Iran. India relies heavily on Iranian oil imports and maintains a significant diplomatic relationship with Tehran. Any escalation that threatens the stability of the region could disrupt energy supplies crucial for India’s growing economy.
Moreover, India’s large diaspora, numbering in millions across Gulf countries, faces direct risks if hostilities spread, potentially affecting their safety and remittances that support millions of families back home.
New Delhi may face growing pressure to balance its ties with Israel, Iran, and the United States—all while safeguarding its citizens abroad.
As missiles fly and threats escalate, the risk of miscalculation may be the most dangerous weapon in the room.
