Bihar: 5 Killed, 18 Injured as Pick-Up Van Overturns in Saran District

At least five people lost their lives and 18 others sustained injuries when a pick-up van overturned in Bihar’s Saran district on Monday morning, following a tyre burst, officials said.

The tragic accident occurred near the Nayagaon locality around 6 am, according to police. Saran Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kumar Ashish informed that the vehicle, carrying several passengers, lost control after one of its front tyres suddenly burst. Despite the driver’s attempt to regain control, the van veered off the road and overturned.“

Four passengers died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital,” SSP Ashish said. The injured, including the driver, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. At least 18 people are currently undergoing medical care, he added.

The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be confirmed, and an investigation into the incident is underway, the police said.

Local authorities responded promptly, and further legal and administrative procedures are being carried out.
